The West Quoddy Head Light
Keepers Association (WQHLKA) is a Tax Exempt 501(c)(3)
organization and is governed by By Laws and an elected Board of
Trustees, comprising the positions of President, Vice President,
Treasurer, Secretary and five Directors. Elections are held at our
Annual General Meeting in July of each year.
To conduct Association business the Board and local members meet
at 6:00 PM on the 4th Thursday of each month. Meetings are held
from May through October at the Visitor Center and wherever space
is available in town during winter months. All are welcome!
The Association’s planning and implementation is conducted by
volunteer committee members. The Association’s eight standing
committees are: Finance/Budget; Fund Raising; Business Membership;
Exhibits; Art Gallery; Public Relations/Marketing/Advertising;
Website; Strategic Planning, and others are convened as
appropriate. To read about work recently completed, click here:
Newsletter.
Local volunteers staff the Center daily from 10:10 AM to 4:00 PM
from Memorial Day Weekend through mid-October. The Association’s
only paid position is that of Visitor Center manager.
The Visitor Center’s operation and maintenance depends solely on
donations from the general public and visitors;
memberships; sales of
lighthouse memorabilia at
local gift shops and donations from local
artists, whose work is exhibited in the Visitor Center
art gallery.
