The Lightkeepers Association is a 501c not- for profit organization. We are funded entirely through individual giving, memberships, and sales at the Visitor Center. The organization is run and the visitor center is staffed by volunteers and members. If you would like to become a member, please contact us or visit us at the lighthouse.
The mission of WQHLKA is to enhance the experience and knowledge of community members and visitors to West Quoddy Head Lighthouse and the Visitor Center, through educational exhibits linking the lighthouse, community of Lubec, and the maritime world.
The Governing board meets at 6pm on the 4th Thursday of each month. May through October, meetings are held at the visitor center. "All are Welcome!" Various committees are convened as appropriate, including the Arts Committee, Exhibits Committee, Grants Committee, Finance Committee and Public Relations Committee.
Hikers may choose from five trails that wind through the forest and along the edge of the Bold Coast! Beautiful Scenery, with miles of hiking trails. The Coastal Trail offers spectacular views. This trail passes Gulliver's Hole (a narrow chasm formed from erosion of vertical fault in the volcanic gabbro rock). High Ledge (a 150-foot bluff); and Green Point ( a large ledge where hikers can reach the beach at this point.
Visit our center to see one of a kind pieces of history .
- The Ronald Pesha Museum -
WQHLKA History Museum is currently under renovation.Taking care of a museum is a form of stewardship and is, much like any housekeeping, a careful process. Knowing how to properly care for museum objects is critical. This is important work. New images will be added soon.
